Freescale MQX is a compact real-time operating system (RTOS) for embedded applications, designed to deliver deterministic performance, a small footprint, and an integrated set of middleware for faster development. Targeting Freescale microcontrollers such as the Kinetis and ColdFire families, MQX combines a robust kernel with production-ready networking, file system, and USB components to simplify building connected, reliable devices for industrial, consumer, and medical markets.

Key features:

  • Priority-based, preemptive scheduler for predictable real-time behavior
  • Inter-task communication and synchronization: semaphores, mutexes, message queues, and events
  • Software timers, task management, and flexible memory management
  • Integrated TCP/IP networking stack with sockets and common services (e.g., TCP/UDP, DHCP, HTTP)
  • FAT-compatible file system (MFS) supporting media such as NAND/NOR flash and SD cards
  • USB host/device/OTG stack and a command-line shell
  • Board support packages and drivers for popular Freescale platforms
  • Low-power support and optimized interrupt-to-task latency
  • Toolchain integration with environments like CodeWarrior, IAR, Keil, and Kinetis Design Studio (Processor Expert)

Freescale MQX helps teams reduce time-to-market by providing a cohesive, field-proven platform that scales from resource-constrained designs to feature-rich, connected embedded systems.

Freescale MQX is developed by Freescale. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 4.1 and 4.2. The names of program executable files are BSPCloningWizard.exe, webchk.exe.
